the Conductor
David Demand, Conductor
The 2006-07 season marks David Demand’s 6th year as
Conductor and Artistic Director of the Coeur d’Alene
Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. He is also the conductor
for Coeur d’Alene’s Opera Plus! He has performed
throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe as a conductor,
soloist, and accompanist. He was company pianist with the
Joffrey Ballet in New York, and was the principal keyboardist
with the Cedar Rapids Symphony. He has performed with the
Joffrey Ballet Orchestra, the Washington-Idaho Symphony as
both soloist and guest conductor, the Cedar Rapids Symphony,
the University of Iowa Symphony, the University of Iowa Opera,
the Washington State University Symphony, and the Summer Palace
Theater, the Spokane Civic Theatre, the North Idaho College
Symphony, The Project Joy Orchestra, and the Coeur d’Alene
Symphony. Mr. Demand is a graduate of Washington State University,
receiving his B.A., B.M., and M.A. in Music, and studied at
the Banff School of Fine Arts for three summers. He is continuing
his studies, pursuing his D.M.A. at the University of Iowa.
He lives with his wife Renee, and three children Rebekah,
Ryan, and Michael in Chattaroy, Washington. He is the Director
of Music at Spokane’s Saint George’s School.
