Addressing Suicide Through Music: Free Workshop Equips Attendees with Empowerment Habits

Is it glorifying suicide to talk about it? In Idaho, suicide is the second leading cause of death for individuals ages 10-44. Rather than avoiding the topic, learning how to discuss struggles in a supportive, informed way may prevent the next crisis, whether it be suicide, road rage, or another violent act.

The Mood Music Management: 6 Empowerment Habits workshop provides a transformative approach, using music as a tool to support mental health and guide difficult conversations. This free workshop, funded by Music4Life® (M4L), Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra (CSO), and Innovia Foundation, offers attendees practical skills and therapeutic music-based strategies facilitated by CDA Symphony musicians and expert co-facilitators. Led by TEDx speaker, music therapist, and author Judith Pinkerton, Founder of Music4Life®, this one-day workshop will equip participants with 30 therapeutic activities designed to improve mental well-being and reduce risks associated with negative music listening habits.
